Been watching the promo's and trailers for the new trek series at least now I understand why CBS were so down on Axanar. Conflict with the Klingon's seems to be one of the main themes and I guess they were afraid of the competition. Speaking of Klingons what the hell are they on, they've JJ them on steroids and come out with some half-witted excuse about distant cousins and dozens of new houses. Don't get me wrong I'll be watching it when it comes out the effects and production standards look excellent. I just hope they have got some good story lines to back it up but so many things are just not adding up, the new Klingons?, Spock's step sister? must have missed that one somewhere along the line and the new ships ,surely with all the money they are throwing at it they could have have hired a decent designer / artist? The Axanar designs were far superior and more true to the style/format of TOS.
Good Si-fi has always left room for deviation and new ideas but to try and sell this as being part of the canon timeline is stretching it. Would have been better to have set it as part of the JJ verse that line I might buy
I understand they are trying to draw in a new audience but they run the risk of alienating many of the older fan base. Would really have loved to see how Axanar would have turned out so we could have compared the two visions.
